Concerns may include: questions about different cultures and traditions, working through feelings you may have about a student from a different cultural background than your own, wanting to expand your understanding of different cultures.
The Cultural Center creates educational opportunities for members of the university community to critically think about their beliefs, values and assumptions as it relates to culture. Our vision is an inclusive and accepting campus climate free of bias and hate where students, faculty, staff, and alumni work together to create positive change in the campus and local community. Porter Scholars, Black Male Initiative and the Hispanic Latinx & Indigenous Initiative are the three main retention programs in the Cultural Center.
Here at the University of Louisville, all students are encouraged to seek campus involvement in activities outside the classroom to help achieve well-rounded personal development. UofL has more than 400 student organizations ranging areas of interest from religious groups, to sports, video games, fraternities and sororities, and everything in between. There is something for everyone - and if you don't find what you're looking for, you can always create a new group!
